Leadership Development Team and Executive Coaching

Impact Effectiveness Through Coaching

Executive Coaching is growing in popularity in the U.S., and world-wide, because—quite simply—it works. A study of 100 executives from Fortune 1000 companies found that the average ROI (return on investment) was 5.7 times the initial investment in a typical executive coaching assignment.

The study found the benefits to companies that provided coaching to executives were improvements in:

  • Working relationships with direct reports (Reported by 77% of executives)
  • Working relationships with immediate supervisors (71%)
  • Teamwork (67%)
  • Working with peers (reported by 63% of executives)
  • Job satisfaction (61%)
  • Productivity (53%)
  • Conflict reduction (52%)

As you may see on our Services Matrix page, Transforming Leadership offers three distinct levels of Business Coaching. Each level of Coaching serves a different population and utilizes a different Coaching model.

Executive Coaching

The demands of executive leadership require a high level of flexibility and insight on the part of the Coach. While the needs of the Executive may be ever changing, Executive Coaching inevitably includes high level relational, communication, and political skill building. The Executive Coaches at Transforming Leadership bring both the experience and the skills to help the Executive identify growth opportunities and guide the Executive in the growth process.

Senior Manager / Mid-Level Manager Coaching

Senior and Mid-level Manager Coaching is generally conducted twice a month, and focuses on a set of goals or issues identified by the manager early in the Coaching process. While this type of Coaching is generally done over a predetermined period of time (6, 9, 12 months) the goal is to develop specific leadership or management skills. The model employed by Transforming Leadership requires on-going, internal accountability for “exercising” the identified skills throughout the term of the Coaching. This “exercise” leads to sustainable change and improved communication for the Manager, and sets the Manager up for ongoing skill identification and development.

Assessment Coaching / Leadership Development

Many progressive organizations today realize the importance of developing the “next level” or “next generation” of leaders for their organization. Whether it is called succession planning, a high-potential program, or simply leadership development, internal programs are designed to help build the basic leadership skills of individuals on the rise. Transforming leadership works with many organizations in both the planning as well as the administration of their Leadership Development programs. Transforming Leadership offers a wide selection of assessments to help your organization in identifying exactly what your development goals are, and provides skilled Assessment Coaching to aid the individuals in understanding, applying, and building on the results of the assessment.

Benefits of Business / Executive Coaching

Coaching for organizational change focuses on the leader’s ability to steer the organization through a period of change or to a distinctly different level of capability. Attention is given to developing the organization’s capacity to innovate, or determining and developing the capacity of the leadership team to guide the organization through crisis and uncertainty. Individual attention is given to specific leadership behaviors and team building.

In today’s difficult economic climate change is inevitable. Healthy organizations, led by wise leaders, are adapting to the needs of the marketplace. Adaptation may mean a change in strategy, a change in structure, or a change in action plan. Leaders often find that the old way, that is, the ways of last year, are no longer effective.

Effective change requires a finely tuned strategy and action plan, but it is essential that the individual leaders are equipped to carry through on effective change.

Great plans without strong, effective leaders, make great reading, but failed efforts. John Kotter, in The Heart of Change drives home the need for leadership: “People change what they do less because they are given analysis that shifts their thinking than because they are shown a truth that influences their feelings.”
